English Regions Network
ERN has three key roles:
- to represent the collective views of Regional Assemblies to Government and other key national and European institutions;
- to encourage new thinking and research on the regional agenda;
- to share best practice and facilitate inter regional networking amongst Assemblies.
ERN carries out a number of projects on matters of a general interest to Assemblies.

The role of ERN Chair rotates between the Assemblies - currently with the the South East (Cllr Keith Mitchell) and Vice Chair with Yorkshire and Humberside (Cllr Peter Box). The South West fulfilled the role of Chair and provided secretariat support between June 2002 and June 2003. Such administrative costs as are incurred are met by the current lead Assembly and from contributions agreed with other Assemblies.
