Regional Planning and Transport Groups 2000 to 2009
This part of the site contains papers from the Regional Assembly member groups which dealt with regional planning and transport matters between 2000 and 2009. Previously, from 1992 to 2000 and its merger with the Regional Chamber, the South West Regional Planning Conference was the local authority based body which developed regional planning strategy and provided advice to the minister about non-statutory Regional Planning Guidance (RPG 10 ) and transport matters. Unfortunately few records of the SWRPC survive; access can be gained to them and to the published SWRPC and RPG documents under the work of the South West Regional Planning Body on this site. Reflecting the composition of the Regional Assembly, the member groups overseeing regional planning and transport work in this period are comprised of 70% members drawn from the region's local authorities and 30% Social, Economic and Environmental Partners (SEEPs).
The work of these groups was supported by a small team of professional officers working for the permanent secretariat of the Regional Assembly led from 2002 by Peter Brown assisted by considerable inputs from officer groups drawn from the local authorities and regional bodies.
